Quarry Park, Caesarea
The quarry is part of a complex of quarries that were used in the past to mine gravel and sand. The quarrying activity resulted in the violation and destruction of the natural area and the habitats of the stabilized sands.
As part of the restoration works, the topography inside the quarry space was removed as a designed array of hills. The impressive quarry cliff guards the site and is a visual focal point and observation point. Carob and oak trees were planted in the space of the quarry, protected from the sea winds, to create shady spots for visitors. The natural vegetation typical of the place has been restored throughout the quarry. Walking paths invite you to leave the neighborhood, walk through the quarry space or look down on it from above and continue walking through the expanse of sand, towards the beach.
