Shidrit Campground, Negev Mountains
What is left of this once military base are two large dirigible landing pads that were taken over by local vegetation in concentric patterns. The scale and form of these «ruins» are the base of the masterplan for a national reserve with a stargazing campground. Early camping sites would organize around a central meeting point, for meetings, and fires, this new camp is also organized likewise.
New buildings, walls and shade structures are created around the existing circle, while large areas of asphalt are cut out creating soil spaces for camping tents. Planned to work especially at night, a special red light system is planned so that stargazers and photographers will not be bothered by light sources.
