Tel Shelef, Rehovot

Tel Shelef, Rehovot

Tel Shelef lies to the west of the city of Rehovot and on the border of the Gan Reva Council. The area is bordered by the Nahal Gamliel to the west, along which there are old eucalyptus trees, and to the east by road 411. In the center of the area is the hill, which is elevated from the area by about 18 m and overlooks the entire area, seen from afar and surrounded by agricultural areas.
The plan proposes to utilize the route of the natural area, which is of historical and ecological importance and is a seam between the outskirts of the city of Rehovot and the Gan Reva area. The planning of the park creates an emphasis on the existing landscape units in the area while utilizing the existing topography and the flow of the streams to create a pool. This pond will be a focal point of attraction for birds and animals and will thus create an urban nature site. In the perimeter of the pool, hiding and learning positions about the animals and sitting areas will be planned.
The mound itself will be used as a residence park and an open campus for agriculture and nature studies. Observation areas for the open space were planned and the existing buildings from the beginning of the century will be renovated and used for the benefit of an urban center that combines education and study. A circular hiking trail of about 2 km in length will pass through all areas of the park, the pool, on the mound and in parts along the length of Nahal Gamaliel. Smaller sub-paths will be connected to the path that will connect the site to existing and planned regional bike paths.
