Gan HaMoshava, Rishon LeZion

Gan HaMoshava, Rishon LeZion

The 'Moshava' is a garden of history, collectively and personally. The garden tells the story of Rishon LeZion. From its first days, the garden was constantly changing, a testimony to design fashions and changing needs. For the residents of the city it is a favorite garden, a place of childhood memories. The plan for the renewal of the Moshavs Garden seeks to return the garden to its place as the open heart of the city center.
The beginning of the garden dates to the agricultural heritage of Rishon LeZion, rich in historical buildings for preservation. It connects directly to the conservation area where the Rishon LeZion History Museum operates. The city has managed to preserve it as a "green island" of peace and leisure in the heart of everyday urban life. The garden takes place on the side of Herzl Street, the main commercial street in the heart of the city. Adjacency to Herzl strengthens the centrality of the garden and its accessibility. Accessibility to the garden will increase with the entry of the light rail into the heart of the city.
The location is an opportunity but also a threat to the garden. Over the years, the garden suffered from various marginal effects that bit into it and changed its essence. The regeneration of the garden requires a redefinition of its relationship with its limits, the urban framework. Our proposal is a contemporary interpretation of the historic garden. We offer a refined intervention, arising from the identification of the essence of the garden and its empowerment. The intention is not to change the genesis of the garden of the settlement, but rather to add a contemporary layer, weaving a string of memories. Renovating the garden will make it an anchor of heritage and experience, memories intertwined in a contemporary and living space.
